Lake Turkana Wind Power

Lake Turkana Wind Power consortium (LTWP) is poised to provide 300 MW of clean power to Kenya's national electricity grid by taking advantage of a unique wind resource in Northwest Kenya near Lake Turkana. Using the latest wind turbine technology LTWP can provide reliable and continuous clean power to satisfy up to 30% of Kenya's current total installed power.-company website

The project looks great given the local sourcing of clean energy and I believe the cost of electricity will be lower than hydro and generator supplied power.
The LTWP would do more by puting its case to the people and giving more specifics of the benefits of the venture to the Kenyan grid and to the local community. If electricity to the locals has to be channelled through the KPLC grid there may be a potential conflict with the local community coz most likely the power produced in their backyard will remain very exhorbitant or unaffordable.
